Leaders provide information to help mitigate anxiety and mistakes. Here’s David to Heathrow Airport with an example.
“Provide Information” is one of our practices. Sometimes we say, “Provide information not instructions.” But you can start by simply providing information. I’m on this shuttle bus in Heathrow. I’m going from terminal 4 to 2, which is a terrible transfer. Don’t plan your trip that way. But the driver has said absolutely nothing except in response to questions. And everyone’s got the same question. “Do we go to terminal 3 first, or terminal 2?” . . . “What stop is this?” . . . “Are we stopping at another hotel to pick up people or not?” And there’s so much that the driver could be just telling people proactively and mitigate a lot of the anxiety. We had some people almost miss their stop because we had stopped at their stop and they didn’t realize.
So “provide information” is always a good way to go.
I’m David Marquet. That’s your Leadership Nudge.
