Practice Intent-Based Leadership by giving up control when ordering at restaurants. Here, David shares a great story with a surprising result.
My favorite activity for practicing what it feels like to be an Intent-Based leader is to go to a restaurant and see if you can get the server to choose for you. And you’ll know what they chose when they put it in front of you. Great story recently, where someone went to Chick fil A, and did this. Now normally what we see is that higher end restaurants, it’s usually easier and they’re willing to go off script. But typically, at fast food they don’t even want to choose for you. But this person I went to Chick fil A, not only was the person was the person perfectly happy to choose for them, they said, “Hey, does it have to be on the menu?” So they got something totally special, not even on the menu because they were willing to give up control. I love it. I’m David Marquet. That’s your Leadership Nudge.
