When making decisions, leaders look for insight from the team. That improves the quality of the decision, but also gives the team a sense of involvement. Watch as Peter explains how Santa does it.
It’s the week before Christmas and little Roo here is making his list to Santa.
Peter: What is at the top of your list, Rory?
Rory: Paw Patrol Sea Patrol!
Peter: Paw Patrol Sea Patrol!
Now, Santa has a lot of decisions to make at the moment. So getting insight like this is probably quite helpful for him. And he also has a team of helpers, like this Elf on the Shelf here, who’s been watching Rory over the course of the last couple of weeks to see whether you’ve been naughty or nice.
Peter: What do you think? Have you been naughty or nice, Roo?
Rory: Nice!
Peter: I think you probably have been nice.
Now, Santa has a lot of decisions to make. And sometimes as leaders, we have to make decisions. That doesn’t mean to say we make them on our own. We look to see where we can get insight from the team. And that improves the quality of the decision, but also gives the team a sense of involvement when that decision has been made. So our Noel Nudge to you this week is – if you do have to make a decision, it doesn’t mean to say you make it in isolation. Think about who’s going to be involved. Think about who’s going to be affected. It’ll improve the quality of decision, and it will help you as you roll those decisions out.
So from all of us at Intent-Based Leadership International, we send you all the very best for a very Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone!
