Leadership Nudge – LEARN ALL BEATS KNOW ALL

This week’s Leadership Nudge™ comes from an awesome distillery in Bavaria. I found whiskey here! Who knew they made whiskey in Bavaria. I thought I would only find beer. It reminded me of this principle: Leaders say “I don’t know.” Saying I don’t know opens the door to learning.

A person with a “learn all” mentality, someone who is constantly learning will trump the “know all” mind set in the long run every time. Leaders want to have a “learn all” mindset. The way you get there is to practice saying, “I don’t know.”

Our Leadership Nudge to you this week is this:

Take a situation where you think you know the answer and instead of giving the answer, say: “I don’t know – let’s find out – let’s run an experiment – let’s look it up.” See what you find out.

Let us know what you learn!
